Artist Statement

Matieskova work is a way of escaping the reality of stressful days by capturing the mood and her findings in the forest. This is achieved by taking long forest walks with her camera, where she gets lost on her journey to capture the extraordinary.

Matieskova investigates themes such as abandonment and escapism. Her current project, Hidden, represents escaping reality when times are difficult, and walking around the forest helps to lessen the stress of everyday life.

Matieskova captures the uncanny atmosphere of the environment like a forest. Her large-scale color prints mirror this sense of mystery.
